Our 4/4 Ash lumber is a great choice when you need strong, reliable hardwood with clean grain and excellent workability. Each board is kiln-dried, then planed and sanded smooth to a consistent thickness, and straight-lined on both edges for clean, square stock. Ash is known for its strength, light natural color, and prominent grain pattern, making it a popular choice for furniture, cabinetry, tool handles, and a wide range of woodworking projects.

Perfect for table builds, cabinet parts, drawer boxes, frames, panels, shelving, and general woodworking applications.

What to Expect:
Each board will feature natural variation in grain and color. Ash typically has a light tan to pale brown appearance with a bold, open grain pattern that takes stain and finish very well. You may see occasional mineral streaks, small knots, or color variation, which are normal characteristics of real hardwood. Thickness is listed as 4/4 nominal, with a finished thickness of approximately 7/8" after surfacing and sanding. Boards are milled square and straight, though slight movement can occur with changes in humidity.

Width & Length Notes:
Widths are milled to size but may vary slightly within normal tolerances. Boards may be slightly over length to allow for final trimming.

Important Notes on Movement:
Wood is a natural material and will move with seasonal humidity changes. We recommend allowing boards to acclimate to your shop or environment before final milling or installation.

Finishing Tips:
Ash accepts stain and finish extremely well and is commonly used when a pronounced grain pattern is desired. Oil finishes, polyurethane, hard wax oils, and stains all work well depending on the final appearance you want to achieve. We recommend testing finishes on an offcut before final application.
