Our 4/4 Cherry lumber is a great choice when you’re looking for clean, consistent material that machines well and finishes beautifully. Each board is kiln-dried, then planed and sanded smooth to a consistent thickness, and straight-lined on both edges for clean, square stock. What to Expect
Each board will have natural variation in grain and color. Cherry typically starts lighter and will darken over time with exposure to light, developing a richer tone. You may see occasional sapwood or small pin knots, which are normal and will blend well once finished. Thickness is listed as 4/4 nominal, with a finished thickness of approximately 7/8" after surfacing and sanding. Boards are milled square and straight, but slight movement can occur with changes in humidity.
Width & Length Notes
Widths are milled to size but may vary slightly within normal tolerances. Boards may be slightly over length to allow for final trimming.
Important Notes on Movement
Wood is a natural material and will move with changes in humidity. We recommend allowing boards to acclimate before final milling or installation.
Finishing Tips
Cherry finishes extremely well but darkens quickly with exposure to light and certain finishes. For best results, test your finish on an offcut before applying. Oil, polyurethane, or hardwax oil all work well depending on your desired look.
