What to Expect
Each board will have natural variation in grain, color, and figure. Curly Soft Maple is known for its distinctive figure and chatoyance, though the intensity of curl will vary from board to board. Thickness is listed as 4/4 nominal, with a finished thickness of approximately 7/8" after surfacing and sanding. Boards are milled square and straight, but slight movement can occur with changes in humidity.
Important Notes on Movement
Wood is a natural material and will move with changes in humidity. We recommend allowing boards to acclimate before final milling or installation.
Finishing Tips
Curly Maple responds well to proper sanding and finishing, which enhances the depth of figure.
For best results:
Sand to a higher grit to bring out figure
Apply oil, polyurethane, or hardwax oil depending on your desired look

Beautiful piece of wood that I will re-saw and thickness for a solid body guitar top. The grain pattern is great and if it looks as good book matched as I think - I may leave it natural. After wiping it with a little naphtha I can already see how great it will look under finish.

I'll upload pics when I get back to a regular computer but this piece of maple is beautiful, amazing deep grain. If I do my part (re-sawing it on a 1960s band saw :)) it's going to make for an amazing guitar top. Truly nice quality - square and flat.

The quality of the maple was excellent. Unfortunately it was not 1” thick like stated. It was only 7/8” thick , so I was unable to use it .I really needed 1” thick for my project. I didnt bother to send the board back , so I just kept it in hopes that I will use it down the line .Too bad the measurements weren't correct…
