These Black Walnut live edge slabs are a great choice if you’re looking for something with real character and a natural look you just can’t get from dimensional lumber.
Each piece is cut from solid Black Walnut, kiln-dried, and planed flat, while keeping both natural edges intact. No two boards are the same, and that’s exactly the point.
Perfect for shelves, table builds, mantels, and custom woodworking projects where you want the wood to stand out.

What to Expect (Please Read)
Each slab is completely unique in shape, grain, and color.
Widths are listed as an average measurement. Due to the natural live edge, boards will be wider and narrower in different areas.
Live edge means natural variation. Edges may include curves, voids, knots, splits, or irregularities. These are not defects, they are part of the character of the wood.
Bark is not guaranteed to be present or intact. Bark can loosen or fall off during the drying, milling, or shipping process.
Color will vary from board to board. Walnut can range from lighter brown to deep dark tones and may include lighter sapwood.
Boards are planed flat but not finish sanded. Light sanding is recommended before finishing.
Width & Length Notes
Widths are measured based on the usable wood face only, from inside edge to inside edge, excluding bark. Due to the natural live edge, boards will vary in width along their length, so all widths are listed as a rough average, not the widest or narrowest point.
Lengths are cut within the listed size range but are not always perfectly squared on the ends. In most cases, boards may be up to approximately 1" longer than the listed length. This allows you to make final, clean cuts as needed for your specific project.
Important Notes on Movement
Wood is a natural material and will move with changes in humidity. Slight bow, cup, or twist can occur, especially with wider slabs.
For best results, allow your board to acclimate to your space before final sanding, cutting, or installation.
Finishing Tips
These slabs are intentionally left unfinished so you can take them exactly where you want.
For most projects:
- Sand to desired smoothness
- Apply a finish like polyurethane, hardwax oil, or tung oil
For a natural look, even a simple oil finish will bring out the grain and color dramatically.
