7/4 Cherry Live Edge Slab – Kiln Dried Double Live Edge Wood
Kiln-dried Cherry slab with two natural live edges preserved for an organic, natural appearance. Each slab is mechanically flattened and planed to approximately 1.75" thick, creating a substantial piece of wood suitable for floating shelves, coffee tables, benches, mantels, and other woodworking projects.
The natural live edges give every slab its own shape and character, while Cherry’s warm heartwood and lighter sapwood create natural contrast throughout the piece.

Cherry Wood Character
Cherry is known for its warm heartwood, creamy sapwood, fine grain, and natural color variation.
Depending on the piece, you may see differences in heartwood and sapwood, figure, curls, grain movement, and chatoyance.
Cherry can develop a deeper, richer color over time, especially with exposure to light and the application of oil or hard wax finishes.
Natural Variation
Every slab is unique.
Natural characteristics may include small checks, knots, grain variation, figure, curls, live-edge waviness, and other natural features.
The live edge will vary in shape and width from one slab to another.
Approximate tolerances are ±1" for length and width due to the natural shape of the slab and live edges.
Finishing
Cherry responds well to oil, oil-poly, and hard wax oil finishes.
A suitable finish can enhance the natural depth, grain, and color of the Cherry without requiring a heavy stain.
We recommend testing your chosen finish on an offcut or inconspicuous area before finishing the entire slab.
Mounting and Installation
For floating shelves, use appropriately rated heavy-duty brackets and secure them into suitable wall framing or studs.
For tables and benches, use a sturdy base designed to properly support the size and weight of the slab.
Because natural wood can move with changes in humidity, allow the slab to acclimate to its final environment before completing final installation or joinery.
Bark and Live Edge
Bark may or may not remain on the live edges.
Where bark is present, its condition can vary naturally. Bark may loosen over time, and some buyers may choose to remove and reseal it depending on the intended application.
