Each board is made from kiln-dried Black Walnut, cut and arranged to expose the end grain of the wood. This creates the unique block pattern across the surface while showcasing the natural color and grain variation found throughout the Walnut.

At 2" thick, these are heavy, substantial cutting boards designed for everyday food prep, chopping, carving, and serving.

Every cutting board includes a complimentary tin of our Black Sheep Woodworks Board Butter.

Use it periodically to condition the wood and help protect your board from drying out while keeping the Walnut looking rich and vibrant. A little goes a long way, and your first tin is included with your board at no additional cost.

Reversible or Rubber Feet
Choose the setup that works best for your kitchen.

Reversible - No Feet
The bottom of the board is left flat, smooth, and fully finished, allowing the board to be used on either side. The top features the juice groove, while the opposite side provides a clean, flat cutting surface.

This gives you two usable surfaces and allows you to flip the board depending on what you're preparing.

Rubber Feet
Rubber feet can be installed on the bottom of the board for added grip and stability on your countertop. The feet also slightly elevate the board, making it easier to lift and allowing airflow underneath.

Please note that adding rubber feet makes the board single-sided rather than reversible, with the juice groove side intended as the primary cutting surface.

Why End Grain?

End grain cutting boards are made by arranging the wood with the ends of the grain facing upward.

Rather than cutting directly across the wood fibers, a knife can move between the fibers of an end grain surface. This makes end grain a great choice for a frequently used cutting board while also being easier on knife edges.

The construction also creates the distinctive pattern across the face of the board, with each individual block showing a different section of the natural Walnut grain.

Natural Black Walnut

Black Walnut is known for its rich brown color and beautiful natural variation. Colors can range from medium brown to deep chocolate, with differences in grain and figure throughout each board.

Because we use real hardwood, no two cutting boards will look exactly alike. Grain pattern, color, and natural characteristics will vary from the boards pictured.

These variations are a natural part of the wood and make every board unique.

Care Instructions

Hand wash with mild soap and warm water after use and dry thoroughly. Do not place your cutting board in the dishwasher or allow it to soak in water.

We recommend periodically applying a food-safe mineral oil or board butter as the wood begins to look or feel dry. Regular conditioning helps protect the wood and maintain its appearance.

With proper care, your Walnut end grain cutting board can provide a beautiful and durable work surface for years to come.

Whether used for chopping vegetables, preparing meat, slicing fruit, serving cheese and charcuterie, or simply displayed on the countertop, these boards are made to be both functional and beautiful.
